Interesting....Not sure if Ortiz will stay with the RS, Softy, and I even had a brief fantasy about the Yanks signing him...Unfortunately, the gray Gothams need that DH spot to be spread around so that will probably not happen...But do not be shocked if he signs with a cointender...

I see Ortiz and the Red Sox parting ways soon.

I love the guy but the writing is on the wall.

This team needs to get younger and fast!

I just checked my calender, it says, "September 22, 2012".   :)

    Why not discuss 2013 instead?

Gomez should be given a shot at the 1B job. That man can hit a baseball. If he can become even a mediocre fielder he gets my vote at 1B next year.

We're not going 100% kids next year, so there is room for one or two vets on 1-2 year deals.

In many ways, it makes sense to let Papi walk (hopefullly gaining a comp draft pick): Lava could DH vs RHPs and catch vs LHPs, and guys like Nava, Gomez, Sands, and maybe Ross could DH vs LHPs and some RHPs.

However, Papi is a legend. He should retire in a Sox uniform. I'd offer him the minimum needed to get the draft pick if he refuses, but I'd be prepared to offer a little more to slightly surpass any other team's better offer.

Ross market is no more than 2 years at platoon rate, offer him 2 years and base 4 or 5M

He will likely get an offer of $18-21M/3, so once again, your offer is not a realistic position. Now, tell us about all the starting pitchers we can sign for $1M this winter...  LOL!

Hard enough to know what our lineup will look like next year , much less 2014.
