Prediction # 4

    Naps will have a MONSTER year, banging out 25+ HR's, hit .268, .315, .465, .780 w/ 104 rbi's

    Pedey hits 16HR's, .301, .347, .470, .817 w/ 78rbi's

    XB hits 14 HR's, .291, .337, .435, .772, w / 63 rbi's

    Middy hits 21 HR's, .277, .325, .445, .770, w/ 83 rbi's (pretty decent D.  Not great, but acceptable)

    C hits,   10 HR's .267, .320, .410, .730, w / 62 rbi's (combined)

    LF Nava is our mainstay w / 14 HR's, .294, .340, .440, .780, w / 79 rbi's (playing only 3/4)

    JBJ hits 8 HR's, .271 after a slow start, .295, .395, .690, w / 43 rbi's

    Vic hits 15 HR's, .287, .330, .410, .740, w/ 63 rbi's (W SOLID D!)

    Papi, hits 24 HR's, .289, .345, .450, .795, w / 93 rbi's (playing 140 games)

    Lester wins 18

    Buch wins 16

    Lackey wins 15

    DUBBY wins 14

    Jake wins 14

    Sox 93 - 69

Bullpen pretty solid w / a few bumps in the road
Pretty realistic, except I think Nava shall have a higher OBP and Middlebrooks shall be lower, including BA.
I agree!  You may well be right.  I did go a little low on Nava & a bit high on Middy.  It was purposeful, but I'll live with it.  I'm trying like heck to get behind Middy, & thinking that Nava may have a little tail off....  Hope I'm wrong about Nava!  God I LOVE THAT KID!  I'm thinking my other brilliant predictions will make up for that low ball.  ;)

No more of these weasely, "I'm waiting til' Feb or March posts.

Step up & lay it down now.

The team is essentially set.  Live with it.

First in on this wins in a draw.

Winner TAKES "Poster of the Year" honors despite the endless future threads debating the popularity contest.  The title will simply assumed by me when I win.  Which I will.  My prediction is flawless.

I will need to add the postseason prediction......

Sox & Yanks battle for 1st down to the last week.  Sox take it by 1 game!  EPIC!!!!  We go on to win the WS.  It's gonna be awesome.

Thank you in advance for playing.

Red Sox make playoffs unfortunately no repeat. Tigers go to WS.

Tigers vs. Nats WS. Tigers finally break thru. Leyland throws out 1st pitch game 1 of WS.

Price wins CY but is traded during season, G.Cole breaks out in NL edges Kershaw

Trout finally wins MVP, J.Upton breaks out in NL barely edging Harper

WMB bounces back and puts up better #'s than Bogey. But Bogey has a pretty good 1st yr just not an all star just yet.

Lester signs below mkt and reups with RS for 5 yrs

Yanks miss playoffs, Jeter walks away. Arod decides to sue Yanks, city of NY, police dept. and FBI which he claims are all conspiring against him to keep him from playing the game he so desperately loves.

Re: Your 2014 predictions? Be bold RSN!

I expect the RS to win 96 games and be in the playoffs: RS had a really good team last year and were strong over 162 games, and have a lot of it intact. There are some things that should be improved, as Moon has pointed out, among them:

Peavy and Bucholz  will combine for 30 more starts than 2013. Dempster (32 starts) and the likes of Aceves (6 starts) and Webster (8 starts, 8.60 ERA) will have less.
Bullpen, a strength in '13, will be better: Mujica and Badenhop added, Miller back. Mortenson (5.34 ERA) and Hanrahan (9.82 ERA).

Clay Bucholz and John Lackey will be named to the All-Star team.

Pedey will have better production with his thumb? taken care of off season.

Better production at SS with Bogaerts. I see alot of predictions of Bogaerts as ROY. I think Tanaka has a better chance to be ROY.

Tampa Bay and Red Sox will have the best record in the division. 1/ Red Sox 2. Tampa Bay 3. Yankees

The Yankees will have a great spring then get off to a slow start, under .500 record into May. Beltran or Ellsbury will miss at least half the season.  Mark Texiera will get off to his typical poor start and never recover.

RYAN DEMPSTER will be traded with 3-5 mil slary relief to an NL team before the season starts.

Remy will decide not to come back and Eck will replace him.

The forum will like Lackey as both a pitcher and a person.

Bucholz will stay healthy and excel.

Lester will not have an off year like he did in 2011 but will repeat his 2012 stats.

Pedroia, now healthy, will have a career year on offense.

We will see the emergence of our next catcher from the farm system.

    Middlebrooks will rebound with power.

    OK, I'm confused.

Lester was 15-9 with a 3.47 ERA, 1.257 WHIP in 2011. That was better than ...

    2012 9-14, 4.82 ERA, 1.383 WHIP, and better than ...

    2013 15-8, 3.75 ERA, 1.294 WHIP.

So how is 2011 an off year?

I agree. Remy won't return. I don't see how he can. Eck already said he won't travel anymore. He had enough when he played. Can't blame him and give him credit for filling in last September, under the circumstances.

    Agree on Middlebrooks, PD.

Lester had an off/on season in 2013, ASB. will have a good year after a contract is in place

Lester will have a good year, Lackey, Buch too.

Think Sizemore will make the team, exceed expectations and a difference

You all know it's that time of year.  Rosters are shaping up and ST is right around the corner.  Somebody had to start this thread right?  And let's remember that this is only for fun.  Let's be gentle to each other and hope your bold predictions may come true.

First off, I see Sox finish 2nd place with 94-68 record.

Red Sox will extend Lester to 6/$110M deal and he will answer with finishing top 5 in CY award

Xander Bogaerts will win ROY defeating Tanaka and and participate in AS game

Ortiz and Napoli will hit more than 65HRs combined

Sizemore will play more than 130 games and will resign with Red Sox on a 3 yr deal

At last, Dustin Pedroia will win his 2nd MVP award with .350/.410/.490 25HR-25SB, GG, SS accomplishments
Other than your Pedroia prediction (.350?) I think that's all reasonable.

Re: Your 2014 predictions? Be bold RSN!

Doubront enjoys a breakout season and establishes himself as a reliable mid-rotation starter.

Peavy stays healthy and wins 13 games with an ERA under 4.00.

    Middlebrooks turns a corner with a .240/.300/.475, 28-homer, 85-RBI season.

Victorino spends significant time on the DL. After a very cold start that has BDC clammoring for his release, Sizemore will begin to heat up in May/June and become a solid contributor while playing all three OF positions.

An injury to one of our aged catchers provides Christian Vazquez with a path to the majors. He and Rubby De La Rosa (who assumes a key role in the bullpen) are in Boston to stay by the second half.

After securing an extension through 2015, Big Papi experiences some mild regression but still has a good year (.280 BA, 26 HR, 95 RBI).

Cecchini, Betts, and several pitching prospects are part of a July deal for Giancarlo Stanton.

Red Sox win 94 games and edge out the Rays in the AL East.

(I'll probably think of more later.)
