The Pats got Welker in a trade.

Merriweather stunk it up until the last play.

    Watson sucks.
The only problem on the team is the defense. Which, for the record, is a major problem. This is the downfall of the team.

Hey nastee, they got Welker for a HIGH draft choice. He was technically a restricted free agent.

They didn't sign Welker as a free agent or to a restricted free agent offer sheet. They Traded a 2nd and 7th round pick to the Dolphins for him. Miami signed him to a one year contract and then traded him. Look it up.

Yes your right. But he was a free agent before they had signed him. It was a prearranged deal between the Dolphins and Patriots. Potato, Potahhhto.

Trading for him shows how much Bill and company valued him and saw his true potential.

It also saved them a boat load of money...if they signed him as a restricted free agent the offer would have been over 6.5 million a year plus the second rounder.

By giving Miami the 7th it allowed them to structure a more favorable deal.

Though it seems small it was quite a big accomplishment on many levels.

you have to remember also.if it wasnt for moss.welker wouldnt do that well.if you have a receiver that requires double coverage.it gives a player like welker the rec,and yards he gets.dont get me wrong i like welker, but there are other players who are playing hard to give welker the opportunity.
