    JON GARLAND

I see where the Padres signed Jon Garland to a $7-Million dollar contract. Here's a guy experienced in the American League that year in and year out gives you 200 innings with an ERA of just about 4.01. Wouldn't he have been a better signing for the sox than Penney, who has no AL experience, and comes in at about 5 1/2 Million?

Get your facts straight. It was the Diamondbacks tht signed Garland.

    JON GARLAND

The minimum he makes is $8,75M including the buyout.

His numbers last year were pretty bad. Over the past 7 years, he's had an ERA of under 4.23 once, and between 4.51-4.90 for 5 of his last 7 years. For less money, he might've worked, but the 90/58 K/W ratio is real worrisome.
