Please stop with the Manny Updates

All I hear is Manny updates. Manny rejected this deal, Manny is talking to this club.
Please let's move on. He cost us a world series this year and all though he brought us great joy in the past, he did not act professional in his last year with us! Next.

Manny's still an interesting story. Last night ESPN ran a show on MLB and one of the subjects was Manny. The half dozen commentators, Peter Gammons among them, agreed that right now he is a very tough sell because of the 2008 season. Gammons even offered the insight that it was the final two months of the season--when Manny basically carried the Dodgers to the playoffs--that probably did the most damage in the eyes of the GM's around the league. Why? Because those two months demonstrated conclusively that Manny hand been tanking earlier in the season in order to get out of the Sox contract. Gammons also said that Manny had told numerous people that he was going to get $100M for four years or $150 million for six years, nothing less. He also said that he doubts that Boras put Manny up to tanking--that that was Manny's decision based on his desire for the $100M/$150M deal.

And the reason why I still like this story is that there are plenty of contributors on this board who feel that Theo drove Manny out of town, when the rest of MLB knows that Manny ran away from a Red Sox contract (or extension) as hard as he could.

Note to Manny, there's another great hitter out there with better carreer stats than yours that can't find a job either. He also sat out a season, not by choice, & this would be the second. When you do stupid things, the consequences are your own fault.
