They were such great players. They had such an impact on the Red Sox.
Now would be a good time to share your favorite memories of Varitek and Ortiz. -

Varitek is the best at
Striking out a running back to the dugout, no body can beat him, nobody -

I love the way V-tek used to strike out looking...and strike out swinging...Especially when he swings at strike three as he starts running up the 1st base line... -

Can we share our favorite Coco Crisp stories??
I told my son a heartwarming story of the Red Sox highly paid Center Fielder.
It was a beautiful, wam, Sunday afternoon in the most historic park in Baseball.
And Coco Crisp actually got a MEANINGFUL hit with RISP in an important game. SERIOUSLY!!!
I still get goose bumps thinking about that nostalgic special afternoon at Friendly Fenway!!!
I'll never forget that rare and special moment -

I saw David Ortiz at a Bruins game once.
But my favorite story is whenSox Closer Keith Foulke did not attend a Red Sox Yankees Game Playoff Game when he was injured, but instead took in a Bruins game at the Garden. -

There are 4 guys who clearly should not be back on thr roster next year- Timlin, Wake, Varitek and Crisp. While Wake and Crisp had a few moments this year; they are basically liabilities. The other 2 have just been terrible. Lots of work to be done in offseason either within or without organization- 4th and 5th starters, left handed RP, a consistent CF, backup OF and IF who can hit, a catcher who can hit his weight- that's about a 30% roster turnover. I hope the FO can see how wrong it has been this year to stick with mediocre or worse veterans. Look at what TB is doing with youth and RS system is loaded with prospects.
