What Does your Jason Bay Lineup Look Like??

If I was Tito, here's what my lineup card would look like for Jason Bay's first game tonight. What would yours look like??? Let's start a thread.

RED SOX, AUGUST 1ST, 2008
1. Jacoby Elsbury
2. Dustin Pedroia
3. David Ortiz
4. Kevin Youkilis
5. J.D. Drew
6. Jason Bay
7. Mike Lowell
8. Jason Varitek
9. Jed Lowrie

...still looks fairly potent to me. Got to try to move on somehow. (Gotta go with Youk at #4)

...I know Manny dogged it in so many different ways, but he was one of the greatest hitters I might ever see. He made it look sooooo easy. But give Jason Bay a chance. He just might surprise us. And for better or worse, the distraction is gone and we now have a team filled with quiet, professional hustlers and lovers of the game.

3. Drew
4. Ortiz
5. Bay

Drew was lights out hitting 3rd. I think Bay is a perfect #5 hitter.

Ellsbury
Pedroia
Ortiz
Lowell
Bay
Drew
Youkilis
Lowrie
Varitek

Bay will see alot of fastballs ahead of Drew. He will see alot of runners on base with this order as well. If Francoma decides to keep Pedroia at leadoff i think it would go like this:

Pedroia
Youkilis
Ortiz
Lowell
Bay
Drew
Lowrie
Varitek
Ellsbury

Until Els comes around:

1) Pedroia
2) Drew
3) Youk
4) Papi
5) Lowell
6) Bay
7) Lowrie
8) Varitek
9) Els

After Els comes around a more ideal lineup:

1) Els
2) Pedroia
3) Youk vs left/ Drew vs Rt
4) Papi
5) Lowell
6) Bay
7) Drew vs lft/ Youk vs rt (and consider dropping Bay to 7th and move Drew up to 6th vs lefties if Bay continues sub .200 vs lft
8) Tek
9) Lowrie

I think easing Bay into the lineup in the 6th spot will benefit his transition and help limit Manny comparisons which are probably unavoidable. IMHO Papi needs to be moved to cleanup and offer protection to a Youk/Drew #3 man to best stretch the lineup. Papi still gets decent protection with Lowell. Els/Pedroia is an ideal 1-2 punch if they're hitting. Fill the bags by the time the cleanup hitter gets up and you can't walk him everytime he's at the plate.

It's definitely the most logical lineup on paper. One thing to consider though: if the Sox have their line up w/ lefty, lefty and a righty who struggles against left handed pitchers, that gives the other team a strategic advantage with pitching. We should mix in another righty, maybe flip flop Lowell and Bay.
I think no matter how it shakes out, Drew and Oritz should be split up. That way, teams can not bring in "lefty specialist" to face 2 lefties back to back.
Add Bay to that same rule. He hits .190 against lefties..

What Does your Jason Bay Lineup Look Like??

The real problem with figuring out the line up is the dismal performance recently of Ellsbury. Note how everyone has him either leading off or hitting last. Which is it? Is he the sparkplug or something to be buried? Until he returns to good form, the rest of the line up isn't apt to be pleasing to us. As to Bay, were he hits ought to depend on whether he is facing right-handed or left-handed pitching. at .190 against lefties (and he's a right handed hitter), maybe he should be hitting ninth, but against right handers he can be moved to clean up. LOL.
