    Ponson? I don't believe it.

The guy is a stiff. Unless the Sox are looking for someone to fit into Mo Vaughn's old Uni's, this is not going to happen.

"Sox had reporting to make an offer for him.
Texas Rangers cut him and he Signed to a minor league contract with the Yankees, now he had declared free agency
    He is 32

    Ponson had a 8-5 record in 2008 and a 5.04 ERA
He coud compeat for the final starting job for the Sox.

Outher teams interest are the Athletics, Pirates and Diamondbacks"

    Sounds reliable to me....

I'm not sure about this. I guess if the price is right there's always a chance he could pitch well, but I wouldn't do it.

this is complete bs! There is no way the sox will sign ponson. The "Yankees ponson to red sox" thing was just posted on that site by someone who is by no means a realiable source. It has not been reported on any other site and there is numerous spelling mistakes in the article as well. TOTAL CRAP.

Maybe if they are looking to fill the void of a big guy with a bad attitude like Boomer Wells this is beyond absurd. Wells was a big game pitcher, Ponson is simply a BIG pitcher period!

If Schmoltz is on his way, I doubt Ponson has any chance here. But unlike all the nay sayers, I think he would make a great pickup. The bulk of his 5. run era last year came in a 3-4 games and he accomplished something Dice-K didn't come close to---went deep into at least a dozen games. And even carried the Yanks for awhile through mid-season.

Actually they needed to patch up the rotation last year because of injuries. But thanks. The only pitcher last year that was a financial bust was Pavano. Anyway, the Sox are too smart to sign Ponson. So don't worry about it.
