This is how Bush got re-elected.

Or as the late Jack Cole once said, "We'll be back with more alleged news right after this."
Bush got re-elected because he ran a better campaign, same reason why Obama won the primary and will win the general election. People don't need to pay attention right now to every nuance of the campaign but, when the time comes, they will as they have in the past. Kerry lost cause he was a weak candidate, same problem that McCain faces.

I dont care what color the hat is, a fan is a fan.  I dare someone to judge my green hats!!  They are all used during the ST patrick games!!  The tattoo on my forearm says it all!!  I didnt just get "little" red sox or a "little" red B, Big baseball Big red B Big Shamrocks!!!  I've been "suffering" for 35 years, but if someone wants to be a "new" fan and make "the nation" stronger, then who cares what color the hat is, as long it is'nt Yankee Blue!!!  Kepp quiet about the hats and show your support!!!!

Bush got re-elected because this is a conservative country. I know most people in this area are emasculated liberal weenies who think you're smarter than everyone else, but even with the media in your back pocket, the bribery, race baiting and divisive tactics,  you are still outnumbered. This is why ultra-liberal socialist Obama hasn't a chance in hell come November.  2 Presidents in 40 some odd years ought to tell you everything you need to know about  the Democratic party.

Forgive me, but the PINK hats began as part of the Susan G. Komen fundraising effort?  If you buy a pink hat - from virtually any major or minor league team - it is in support of breast cancer research. For instance, at http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3149567 you can purchase a Portland Sea Dog PINK RIBBON hat where 10% is donated to research to prevent and cure breast cancer.  On Mother's Day, 'Tek wore pink gear and Big Papi used a pink bat...all the players wore pink something.  If YOUR pink hat does not have a genuine "Pink Ribbon" on it, throw it away and get genuine Pink Ribbon products to save women's lives.  And wear them proudly.  And for heaven's sake people, focus your anger on something important.

We're not the 1st team to have bandwagon fans... that is obvious.  But here's a good "Pink Hatter Test".

Name me 10 players that played for the Boston Red Sox between 1990 and 1999.  And Roger Clemens doesn't count.

I think that is a good guage to determine whether or not someone is a fan, or around because it is  en vogue.
It's all about tradition. If the players wear it or wore it, IN A GAME, then it's part of the uniform and you are showing your team colors as a supporter by wearing it. I have yet to see a player wearing a pink hat or a camo hat or a blacked out hat in a game. The  sox wore green uniforms twice and not to celebrate the Irish heritage of Boston like some dope said earlier. They wore green to commemorate Red Auerbach when he died in 07 and they wore it last week. I think they wore green caps in 07 and their regular caps this year.
You are wrong--The Sox have worn Greeen to celebrate Boston's Irish Heritage during several Spring Training games held on March 17th--St. Patrick's Day.

Ah, who cares.  I have been a Sox fan for 30 years and a baseball fan for 50, but I haven't been to Fenway for a long time. Can't afford it, and don't have a corporate connection.  THAT, not pink hats, is the problem here: The Sox are now for the elite.  Few at Fenway are real fans because these days, only the wealthy are there.  It isn't just the money, it is the fact that tickets aren't available as well. And you can't even watch them without premium cable.  Don't get me started.

Anyone is who is more concerned about what people are wearing or not wearing at Fenway is obviously not paying attention to the game.  If you feel that your ability to enjoy a Sox game, whether it be in the yard or on tv, is hindered by the fact that some people are wearing pink, green, or camo than you are spending way too much time looking at the crowd than the field.
I have been a baseball fan since birth (I don't even remember my first game because I was an infant).  I wear a pink hat because it's my favorite color.  I also wear a Red Sox charm bracelet because I can't wear a hat to work, but I like to show my support all the time. When I go to a game, I actually watch the game. I don't care what other people wear because to me the most important thing going on is the game itself, not the fashion show.
And to those of you who are claiming that they want the Sox to start losing again so they don't have to look at pink hats anymore, you are not true fans.  No fan in their right mind would want their team to lose. Watch the game, losers. Stop oogling the girls (and boys) in pink hats.

I think this is rediculous - I'm a long-time Patriots fan (who remembers the Tommy Hodson era?) and I didn't go on railing against all the newbie fans who suddenly came out of the woodwork after SB XXXI... And you see Pats logos all over everything... Look, the only thing that matters is whether you support the team, not what color your 'B' is.... I could sit here and say that the only 'real' Pats fans are the ones who partied in the parking lot of the old Foxboro Stadium and had season tickets when Rod Rust coached the team, and everyone else are 'bandwagon fans'... That's as dumb as saying the only 'real' Red Sox fans have red hair, freckles, a beer belly, live in Southie and answer to the name of 'Sully'... WHO CARES what color the 'B' is... just be glad it's not 'NY' on those pink hats...

This is crazy talk.  The midwest will flood whether we talk about the RS or not.  Do you really think that if we don't talk about the RS, that the midwest won't flood?

Secondly, if we can't talk about the RS, then I assume that you never talk about other subjects.  'Hey, looks like rain.'  'Sorry, can't talk about that, there's flooding in the midwest.'

Thirdly, the world doesn't hate our guts.  They love us.  They don't necessarily love our president, but they love us.  I've worked my entire life for international companies, and I've lost track of how many ex-pats will do everything in their power to stay here.

Pink hat.. Great, I don't care if they have been a Red Sox fan for one hour, as a matter of fact we need all the fans we can get, aren't we the Red Sox Nation?, so why push away new fans, I live in Miami, lived in Boston from 1961 thru 1977 and do not attend games at Fenway for obvius reasons(Except I was there for the o4 World Series at the Pesky Pole) but I love to see Sox caps pink, red, blue, green or any color when I am watching the Sox away fro Fenway, by the way my grandaughter have been a Sox fann for oly 3 years and wears a pink hat, she will be three on August 5, Go Sox!!!!( she still does not know she is a Red Sox fan but she will learn to love the Sox or else!!!

The didn't MAKE pink hats for any teams much prior to 2004. It was a fashion craze that came up, it seemed, as being a female sports fan became more of the norm. Around the time the sox started winning, pink hats were appearing everywhere, not just fenway. They started selling pink hats for college and pro teams all over the country, the fashion trend just HAPPENED to coincide with the sox winning the world series. People buying new hats for the  2004 world series now had the option of pink. And that's not say that just because people were buying new pink hats it meant they didn't have an old hat (aka weren't a fan before). Women might not have LIKED wearing hats more geared to men and when they saw a hat made for them they liked it, OR maybe they had old traditional hats but decided they liked the new style. I personally think the pink and green hats are stupid because they're not the team colors, but I know for a fact there are tons of women who grew up here and have always been fans wearing pink hats, and the same for guys wearing the green ones.

The hat color discrimination is stupid. By treating or viewing people with different color hats differently, you’re only displaying your stupidity.  You should thank anyone wearing anything with a "B" on it as it continues to fund the team’s bottom line.

Find another thing to suffer about...

Keep it up and bad karma will cause another pennant drought.

This whole thing is the creation of the dopes on the radio and the dopes who call them up.  They need to maintain the illusion that a game that takes 3 hours to play can provide up to 10 hours of interesting conversation the next day, and that their lack of anything better to do makes them extra qualified experts.  It's like any other thing where a dopey guy feels threatened when the girls want to play.  Embarrassing, really.

My 8-year old daughter has a pink Red Sox hat, a pink Coco T-shirt, a pink baseball and (SIGH) many, many other pink things -- and she also has her ticket stubs from an April 2004 Yankees game I took her too.  Of course, her favorite team are the ones wearing yellow (hot dogs, ice cream cotton candy)

    Go Sox!
