I'm looking for places in and around Boston that have dancing.  I'm not looking for the same location as the college crowd, I'm over 30 and not looking to relive my youth.  I prefer a place where I can hold a conversation with the person next to me without yelling.

You might try Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge. Nice ..laid back atmosphere and a generally over 30 crowd..
If you wanted to go a little further north..I like Rockafella's in Salem Ma.  Seems to be an age range there of mid 20's to late 40's.
