You know, the Globe loves to leave out the South Coast (Buzzards Bay side below the Cape on everything--burns my a--!).Kool Kone in Wareham has the best whole belly fried clams--bar none! I'd put 'em up against any of those joints listed in your best of NE (many in which I've had the pleasure of dining). -

Thirty-five pictures and not one of the Chart Room in Cataumet? Are you kidding me? About a pound and a half of lobster on two pieces of Portugeses Sweetbread, side of potatoe salad.....The best! I now live in Myrtle Beach, SC but I never miss an opportunity to go to the Chart Room and you shouldn't either before you finish writing this piece. Sunset, drinks, and lobster...priceless!

Young's in Belfast, ME. I live in MA near Worcester and have made the drive to go here. A great place right on the Penobscot Bay. The place is on a pier and you can either have them cook the food for you or take it home with you to cook there. There is also a small park down the road that sometimes we cook there. If you ever visit this place be sure to check out Perry' Nut House which is right nearby on the main road. Young's allows you to bring you own drinks and sides if you like or you can get corn on the cob and some other sides there. It is a great lobster pound and we love eating there. -

The seafood at Kimball's Ice Cream Farm in Westford is outstanding. They opened up an outside seafood restaurant a couple years ago and the seafood is fresh and delicious. The clams and scallops are fantastic!! -

Ken's Place Pinepoint Maine

Not sure why Ken's Place is not listed. It has been showcased on all of the local Portland News channels already this year (WMTW, WGME) as the best place to get fried seafood. The best place for a fishermans platter and for under $25 it feeds two grown adults, its a steal. During peak season be prepared to wait as this place will be packed, which again shocks me that this place is still not listed as one of the best places to get fried seafood...just ask Howie Carr how he feels about this place!!! Boston.com get your act together and list this place!!!! -

I still like quite a few different places but my new favorite is The Beach Plum on Route 1 in Portsmouth, NH.
Best value is still Jakes on Route 1 in Wells (Moody Village), Maine.
Best hidden gem is the Arundel Seafood Center on Route 1 in Arundel Maine just a few miles north of the center of Kennebunk. -
