This looks like a re-run of last years article.  How can you swing through Maine and not include The Clam Shack in Kennebunk/Kennebunkport?  The offer fantastic food, a great setting and have been featured on TLC and other channels because of their food.

"Woodman's  on the North  Shore is by far the best.  Depending on when  you  decide to  go  and indulge in the fried clams the line can be down the  street  but the wait is worth for the most sweetest clams  you will ever eat.  My husband and  I  will be going there to celebrate our 35th wedding  anniversary on  June 29th"

Woodman's has been my favorite as the son of Rockporters I was brainwashed early on. Can't say there haven't been times when Woodman's yuppie crowds have sent me elsewhere. Most "clam shacks" cook them with bellies intact and avoid "Friendlyization". There's even a couple of nice places out here in the hinterlands of Central Massachusetts, The Clam Box in Brookfield and Dresser-Hill in Charlton, that have excellent clams "without the sand in your shorts."

I agree re: Clam Shack in Kennebunk/Kennebunkport. Heck, my nickname is Bunkport due to my grandfather's Kennebunk roots. But I wonder if there TV notoriety doesn't have more to do with serving my distant cousin GHWB than the food itself. My favorite remains Woodman's.

I cannot believe you don't have "Mike's Clam Shack" in Wells Maine listed. I have had clams all over New England and they certainly are the best I have ever had. But the clincher is their Lobster Stew--absolutely heavenly!

Normas in Seaside (that's Oregon).  The fried razor clams (tough to do right), onion rings, and other seafood are as beautifully done as any mentioned.  Karen & I are ancient New Englanders, and have well-appreciated many of the Shacks mentioned on the North Shore & the Cape over years - but have found ourselves out West for some time.  So, in the spirit of a really fine Clam Shak - a little closer to home...
