Actually, the Ronnies in Charlton I find is better.  Same name, named for the same person, but operated independently from the one in Auburn.  And they take credit cards and have a large indoor dining room.

On Route 31 north of Rt. 20 and the turnpike on the way to Spencer.

BUD'S BY THE BEACH, Westport Point, MA.   Some of the best whole-bellied clams fried with local beer-inspired batter, as are the onion rings. Steamed lobsters, made-to-order Cape Cod chicken salad or Lobster salad sandwiches or wraps are to die for!.
East and West Coast fish tacos are the popular items. Portugese marinated skirt steak sandwiches are awesome. The clam cakes have lots of clams and they even have Chorico cakes with chunks of chorico in them. The chowders are fantastic, too!
On your way to Horseneck Beach, stop in to say HI to Bud or Tyler and have an unforgettable meal!

[QUOTE]I've had fried seafood all over the Cape and the North Shore. Johnson's in Groton, MA, has the best fried seafood I have ever tasted. The clams are as good as you can get and the fried scallops are are easily the best in the state. The portions are good too.

You missed two important spots on the New Hampshire seacoast: Markey's right across the street from Brown's on Rte 286 on the Seabrook, NH / Salisbury, MA line. They are equally good! Also you forgot Petey's Seafood, just up Rte 1A in Rye, NH from Ray's. They stay open later in the year, and open earlier than Ray's.

I know people don't consider Connecticut part of New England (!) but there is a place in Hartford CT which has some of the best fried clams and other seafood in New England!  I look for good fried clams when I'm in MA, ME, RI or NH but I always come back to J's Crab Shack in Hartford.  It used to known as Tinker's Seafood.  Same owners and quality but a new name.

If you're in Hartford looking for good seafood, stop by J's. You won't regret it.

Ken's Place Scarborough, ME. Not sure why this place keeps missing this list but hands down best portions for your buck. During peak season the wait is about an hour plus and since people wait this long, it shows you how great their food is.
