Only two places listed from Maine and both at Sunday River? What a joke! What about The Bag at Sugarloaf or the Swig N' Smelt at Saddleback, the bar with the best view of any apres bar in New England. Both of those places put the Sunday River Brewing Company and their awful beer to shame. Whichever Bostong Globe sheeple put this list together need to get away from the Stowes, Killingtons and Sunday Rivers and maybe try some of the real ski areas and apres destinations New England has to offer. -

Obviously a Loon bias here, but Common Man on the Kancamangus Highway is good food, cozy bar and good people apres ski. Gordi's can be hit or miss with the food, but the bar is always a great time. -

Matterhorn at Stowe is a glaring omission. Pickwick's Pub? Who has ever heard of someone wanting to eat tiki foods like elk and kobe beef after 8 hours on the slopes? Hot wings & cold beer does the trick every single time. -

I would add The Outlook at Killington; The Rack at Sugarloaf and Jay Village Inn at Jay Peak. -

Near Stowe, and good if you aren't into a bar scene. These are cafes serving mostly locals with produce from area farms are they are family-friendly: The Bee's Knees in Morrisville, VT and Claire's in Hardwick, VT. -

Trout River Brewing Company in Lyndonville VT, where not only is the beer world class, but the pizza on Friday and Saturday nights is too! Highly recommend a Mexican pizza and an Imperial Stout (or two) to wash it down! -

Have enjoyed Phoenix House and Well at Sunday River and the Red Fox in Jackson, NH. But really, almost any place with a bunch or skiers, beer, and a burger is great. -

Foggy Goggle, Sunday River. Upstairs from the South Ridge lodge, people show up in ski boots right off the slopes, live music every weekend. And the best apres ski bar name ever. -

The Bar at the recently opened Hostel Tevere in Warren, VT is a great spot for post-skiing drinks in the Mad River Valley

Probably too new to make this list but rookie of the year will go to "The Tower Bar" at the base of Jay Peak. Serves Long trail "Tram Ale", spot in the corner for live music, panorama view of the mountain through windows, and parts of towers and lift cables decorate the bar. -

Woodstock inn is great! Fine beers, relaxed atmosphere, and the half price appetizers will last you until breakfast. Plus, no worries about drink and drive because you can stumble upstairs to a nice inn room after a few brewskis.
Over in North Conway, Moat Mountain also brew their own great beers: the Weiss beer is an outstanding thirst quencher and the brown ale is tasty too. Best thing about Moat though is that the food quality is superb. Everything tastes great whether it is basic or fancy. You can't go wrong. -

Glad to see others mention Sugarloaf -- Gepetto's is also great. Good food. Also agree wholeheartedly with the recommendation for Moat Mountain. The food is fantastic, the beer is great, and the people are nice.
Cannon has a new pub this year as well. Fred and Rhonda are still there, serving with a smile!
Oh and if you do happen to be at Sunday River, upstairs at Barker is the place to be (except they have no bathroom on that floor).
Vermont? Nah. Too many NYers. Except at places like Burke (they have nice little pub and a good base lodge). -

One Mile West, near Sunapee. If there's better food to be found after skiing, I've never eaten it. -

The real hardcore skiers love the Bag at Sugarloaf ME. The toughest mountain in the East brings out the hardiest after ski bunch.

Suds Pub in Bethel is the known local champion in the Sunday River area.Live music on the weekend, hoot nite during the week and the best food and beverages. Visit Joe behind the bar on Fri nites. Matterhorn is O.K. and very popular with the SR road crowd. The Brew Pub is hands down awful.WHO put it on any favorable list? Unlike the Sugarloaf crowd that needs to shout "what about me?",i'll just comment on what i know . Most ski towns have great places. It is ,after all ,a good time industry. -

Mr. Pickwicks? Seriously? That is NOT an apres spot. How could the Matterhorn, or the Shed not be mentioned here. Who made this list! -

The rack on the Sugarloaf access road is a great place.
Good food, nice historical artifacts and really lively during the week the Nova Scotia and PEI folks visit. -

Some of my favorites, no particular order:
Common Man, Loon
Shed, Stowe
The Bag, Sugarloaf
Sunday River Brew Pub
Matterhorn, S.R.-although the service is painfully slow but great atmosphere
Red Parka Pub, Conway
Wildcat Inn
John Egan's Big World Pub, Sugarbush -

Wow - Where is Sugarbush or Mad River Glen in the Mad River Valley of VT mentioned? Did we get lost in the mangle of Killington fur coats and high heels? The bar at the base of Mad River is the perfect gathering spot to remind us what skiing and real apres means. And the Hyde Away Inn close to Mad, Mt. Ellen at Sugarbush and the other side of Sugarbush, Lincoln Peak.
