Re: What to know about Charlestown

Charlestown is the only place in the world that has five colleges named after its residents.
Harvard in Cambridge, by John Harvard who was a minister and is buried in Charlestown, Tufts in Somerville and Medford, by Charles Tufts who was a brick maker, Doane in Create, Nebraska, by Thomas Doane who was a civil engineer instrumental in building the Hoosac Tunnel through the Hoosac mountain range in the Berkshires, Colby in Waterville, Maine, by Gardner Colby who was an importer, and Carleton in Northfield, Minnesota, by William Carleton who was a brassware manufacturer in Charlestown.
