Dedham's Council on Aging director Rita Kalcos has been fired, accused of violating state conflict of interest law by hiring her son to teach senior exercise classes over a period of about seven months last year. What do you think?

I think there's more to this story than we're getting.  Otherwise she'd have just be reprimanded or disciplined. 
Something's a little fishy here.

What is this never ending nonsense about Ms. Kalcos having the approval of the COA Board members?  Does the Board hire or fire? Who does Ms. Kalcos directly report to?  It has been said that Ms. Kalcos' salary is near $70,000.00 / year - so, COA Director salary: $70,000.00; COA Board member salary: $0; obeying the law: Priceless!

Ms. Kalcos needs to stop pointing the finger.. She alone did it, she owns it !!
Fire her and lets move on..she has already cost Dedham's taxpayers enough.
