    Re: GRANTS

    Malden Gal---lets start what I have learned the last two days;
First--In 2008 the Federal government created the American Recovery Act/ Stimulus which this city could of applied for 11 different  types of Grants which this city never tried to work this into
the Budget--there is still money available through the use of our
U.S. Senators Offices ---Money from here could help repair most of our streets and sidewalks, there is 6 different types and what i saw
was interesting because of the paperwork and expertise needed to
write the application requesting this funding.
Second--FEMA---has several type Grants and this could be Money used to build a Fire Station ---roughly there are 8 or 9 catagories
covered under FEMA---Again it alot of reading paperwork That I
did not understand or even try to explain---need an experience or
a co-co student to write these grants. (co-op students make less
than a professional and I feel has more resources to use)
Third--Homeland Security Grants are covered in many different
catagories ---Fire Department has 5 types and some provide funding
for a new fire station and others provide for equipment and staffing.
Fourth--enhancement--has 4-catagories and some of it can be used
to repair our streets and sidewalks & water supply system, it also
can be used to support our city with youth programs for the summer.
Fifth---Small City Grants--this has over ten catagories and it covers
many areas even helping to imprive our Public works Division.
there are more and I send some more later--have to take some medication.
sixth--is Chapter 90 Grant--the city just received 970 thousand dollars for repair our streets and sidewalks and even put up parking
    signs.

    Re: GRANTS

     Let Me continue Malden Gal---
Homeland Security ---also has 5 catagories that would help our Police Department---providing funds for new equipment, community
policing staffing, and even upgrading the communications between
the citizens and police by setting up sub -stations accross the
city. Also it could provide funds for Malden Crime watch but this area
has to be approved/supported  by the police chief and city council and Mayor before it goes forward.
Seventh---P.A.R.C.E. Grants this is a type that can improve the ball
parks, tot lots, baseball fields and even crosswalks/lights.
Eight----This one is sponsored by the Our Representatives in Washington and covers many areas my concern was building a new
Fire Station with equipment and staffing. It is also can be used in times of Emergency but again all these grants need to be researched by a person who knows how to do it on a everyday work schedule
not like this city--who does not have a Professional Grant Writer
on any staff--they are also losing out Funding to the Education side
of the Government. Like I said before I was led to this path by my
letters to our senators and reps in Washington than all of a sudden
the Mayor wants to form a committe to look into sites and how to
Fund this project---I would love to sit on this committe but he will
not appoint any citizen only his friends on the Council.
Than take months to come to answers instead of starting a process
with looking into which Grant is suitable for the New Fire House.
The Safer grant is dead till this August& September because of this
    City Council and Mayor.
    Does that help you out

MaldenGal---How many on here have contacted a city Councilor
an ask why the city does not have a professional Grant Writer.
Next why is the Mayor protecting an indicted felon---could us his salary to hire 2 co-op students from a college to start the process
    ask the councilors.
    Bet every one will have an excuse;
Thank You Malden Gal--hope the Grants is a start,
Did you notice that 1775 still a democrat has not spoken in a long
    time----I wonder why?
Where is also the MaldenCrime Watch program an why are they not
    trying to find funding?

    MVCS Parent---/Councilor Kinnon----I as a resident can not apply for a Grant for a city--or even a non-profit organization. I went an
talked to two professors ( who are a lot smarter than you and I) from two different colleges and both show me what the city of malden can apply for, should of applied for, never sent in the applications for Federal Funds. This city council/yourself would only
looking at putting the burden on the back of taxpayers at every chance you have. The Fire House can cost the city nothing and also
provide new equipment and staffing for it.
Contact me at arenellapops63 if you want to go into details I have
the information that is I called required reading.
Sorry--I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration so I
understand the truth when it is in front of me.

Frank focus on the Grants and not a debate. No fighting or name calling. It will kill the topic.

Also can you give names of the grants? Maybe links would help.

Like the SAFER grant has a page and many links. Can you add that to the posts also?

    Re: GRANTS

WalkDon'tTrip----Most of the Grants have links and like the Stimulus/
American Recovery Act---I went to the White House.Gov and has
    all the catagories listed---Every Grant listed has it's own Link;
But Like the Money For the New Fire House it can be given to this
city---by Two Different Grants/federal Funding----Again one is under
FEMA which has 6 to 8 Catogories, then there is Homeland Security
Funding which covers many catogories .
That is why I said it is very time consuming process and I do not have the experience to track or find them all. That is why a Grant-
Writer(s) are the ones that know how to track the money.
Hope that helps---still reading or trying to understand what the both
professors gave me---sometimes it sounds like double talk and than
    it makes sense.  Please keep in contact;

    confusion -----.

    Re: GRANTS

Im pretty familiar with Gov Grants. I checked out the DC grants and many of them, we are to late on getting some. But I have alot more to read to see if you can apply now for next year or even the year after. Take a bit of time. Thats the hard part. And you are going against so many other cities and towns.

WalkDon'tTrip----Go to FEMA Grants and check out the list there are
plenty of money for 2011---2010 is a dead year for Malden00but thet can apply in September for 2011---First we need a Grant Writer
either Professional or a Student who can use his college as a sounding board making sure he is the right area.
The Fire Station will not be built overnight and maybe we can avoid another tax increase.

Certain Depts write grants now. Thats how we got grants in the past. But the city has been working on a job description for a writer for about 6 months now. Also looking on how they can pay the person. But the city does have grant writers now.

When your at the page, highlight your search bar. right click copy. Come back here and right click then hit paste.

Just so i know what your looking at.

    Re: GRANTS

WalkDon'tTrip---First things First---Called the Professor and read him what you said---He called back and as of 4/28/2011 the City of Malden has no professional Grant Writer ---The Educational Department has people who have limited experience in the field but
    not a qualified person.
Second---The MRA is the one submitting most of the applications for
Federal Funds and Grants for everything except the Educational side of Malden Government they write their own.
Third--I try and send you the links in a little while, I also dropped of
a 3 page letter to the councilors this morning plus dropped letters to
Sen.Clark, Sen Kerry, Sen Brown offices and also the Governor.
If you go tonight ask one of them if you could read it. Than ask why
are they the only ones not responding to the letters.

MVCSParent----O---so sorry your saying the city council has or is
more intelligent than elected officials with staffs who work all day for
them and know more about funding and grants than our 11 idiots who just like to hike taxes day in and day out. Councilor Kinnon is the King of the Idiot Squad ---Tell him tonight ----maybe read the

letter or want me to send to you or are you like them all a bunch of

cowards. Ask Kinnon to show you the letter -----Bet he will not.

Oh I forgot you are Councilor Kinnon--if you are not let me send you

the letter ---CHICKEN  Waitng for reply----

    Re: GRANTS

Your right we have no "Grand Writer" but we do have qualified people to write grants. But like I said the city is seeking a grant writer. They just need to get the funds and the language down.

Most the time I can not make it to the meetings. The second day of the week is reserved for a club I joined many moons ago. I try to catch it on TV.
