Satisfied with the status quo in Newton?

What would you change in Newton schools and in the city in general? It's an election year, with plenty of challengers facing off against incumbents in some races, and an open mayor's race. This is the place where you can help shape the debate.

I hope it's a change year electorally. Our current leaders have made a lot of bad decisions or just NOT made decisions in some cases and it's leading to a general slide downward for Newton. We have all the ingredients to be offering a world class public education - committed parents, supportive community, relative affluence - but our leadership has been subpar and it shows in our crumbling infrastructure, flat MCAS scores, and growing numbers of dissatisfied parents.

Get involved.  INSIST that the city keep its residents informed of what is going on in the city.  REQUIRE that the city present multiple opinions and options for every issue.

Understanding what is happening in your city and how to get things done in your city should not be difficult.   A citizen with a family, a home and a career should still be able to stay informed without having to give up fun, hobbies and private leisure.
