It doesn’t get cuter than the Longy School of Music Open House and Instrument Petting Zoo where mini Mozarts and budding Beethovens can try out musical instruments, take free mini lessons (cello, flute, and more), watch demonstrations of music and movement classes, and take in short performances by faculty and students. Visitors of all ages will learn about Longy’s fall programs - you know that trumpet has your name on it. Aug. 29, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.. Free. Longy School of Music, 1 Follen St., Cambridge. 617-876-0956, ext. 1650. www.longy.edu
