Starting today, I'll be answering questions on a daily basis, with a new Q&A each day. If you have an issue you're struggling with right now, be sure to say so and I'll try to get to you ASAP.
What kind of questions?
Anything of a developmental nature is fair game. ('m not an MD and this is not a place for medical questions). Over the years, questions have covered everything from toilet training to teen drivers, crib transitions to cyber-bullying, and just about everything in between.
I glean my answers from the raft of research and reporting I've done over the 19 years of writing the Globe's weekly, developmentally-based "Child Caring" column; from my own book, "Put Yourself in Their Shoes, Understanding How Your Children See the World;" and from the hundreds and hundreds of academicians, authors and clinicians around the country who are doing the up-to-the-minute research and clinical work and who I am grateful to have available to me at the touch of my Blackberry.
But wait! There's more: On the Chats, if I'd written a column on the subject of your question, it was cumbersome to get it to you and sometimes there was an archieve fee. Now I'll be able to link to them, no fee.
So send in your questions, bookmark this Q&A, and let's get going!
P.S. I'm not fond of the name "Barbara's Mailbag." Anybody have a better suggestion?
I answer a question from a reader every weekday. If you want help with some aspect of child-rearing, just write to me here.
