Crystal Kelley, a surrogate mother in Connecticut, was offered $10,000 to abort a Connecticut couple's baby she carried in 2012, reports WTIC in Hartford.
An ultrasound during her pregnancy showed the baby had a cleft lip and palate, heart defects, and a cyst in her brain. The couple, whose name has not been revealed, asked Kelley to abort the pregnancy. After she refused, they offered to give her $10,000 for early termination.
She did not take the money and carried the baby to full-term. "Baby S" was born in June in Michigan where Kelley found a family willing to adopt her.
