Celebrate National Grandparents Day, Boston-area locations, Sept. 8

Grandparents Day-1.jpgNational Grandparents Day is just around the corner, and we've rounded up a few Boston-area events for you to help celebrate that special older person in your -- and your kids' -- lives:

"Happy Grandparents Day!" Providence Children's Museum, 100 South St., Providence, RI. Sun., Sept. 8, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Admission to Providence Children’s Museum is free all day for grandmoms and granddads (all others, $9). Children can craft cards and collages in the Discovery Studio, the museum’s hands-on art and science exploration space, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Grandparents Free Day, Davis Farmland, 145 Redstone Hill, Sterling. Sun., Sept. 8, 9:30 - 5 p.m. Kids can bring grandparents for free today (ages 2 - 59, $17.95). Adults must be accompanied by a child 12 years or younger.

Grandparents Day Celebration, Barefoot Books, 89 Thoreau St., Concord. Sun., Sept. 8, noon - 5 p.m. Fun activities perfect for grandparents and grandchildren to do together in celebration of National Grandparents' Day, including a garden planting workshop, a kite-making activity, and special story time. Grandparents can also enjoy a 25% discount on their entire purchase. Activity times and prices vary.

Big Ryan's Grandparents Day Celebration, Hingham Public Library, 66 Leavitt St., Hingham. Sun., Sept. 8, 1:30 p.m. Free. Big Ryan has stories, songs, and jokes to celebrate family members of all ages. Grandparents, parents, children and babies are all invited to join this special multi-generational event. No registration required.
