A human fetus was discovered in a jar at Cape Coral High School in Florida.

A teacher found it in a cabinet and reported it to the assistant principal, who reported it to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, reports Fox4 News. It was determined that the fetus was a baby girl at 16 to 19 weeks after conception.

Is this legal? According to Fox4 News, there are states where it's against the law to possess a fetus, but Florida is not one of them.

The station talked to Keith Barker, of Carolina Biological Supply Company, a leading supplier of animal specimens as educational tools. Barker said it is not normal to find a fetus in a jar for study. Find out more of what he had to say in this Fox4 News video.

The school district said a retired teacher had gotten it from a previously retired teacher and it was used as a teaching tool.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
