The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is one of many venues participating in National Free Museum Day.

This month, you can visit your favorite museum or discover a new one -- for free! National Museum Day is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors at no charge to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket. Locally, you can enjoy free admission to dozens of museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Discovery Museums in Acton, the Children's Museum in Easton, Battleship Cove in Fall River, the EcoTarium in Worcester, and many more! For a full list of participating museums in Massachusetts, visit www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday. You'll need to download a ticket, which is good for one person plus one guest. Only one ticket will be given per household, and may only be used one time. Parking, special exhibits and events (including IMAX movies), are not included in this free admission. Sat., Sept. 28, hours vary by museum. All ages. Free, with online ticket good only for one person plus one guest per household. Free tickets must be downloaded and will not be available at the museums. For more information, visit the Smithsonian website: www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday.
