Elementary school kids in Nashua, N.H. have to resist the urge to play "tag" during recess. That's because the popular childhood game of chase of has been banned from school grounds.

Patricia Beaulieu, principal of the Charlotte Avenue Elementary School in Nashua, N.H., posted this information on the school's website explaining the ban to parents:

As you know, the traditional recess game “tag,” involves one or more players chasing other players in an attempt to "tag" or touch them, usually with their hand. Seems innocent enough, however the force with which students “tag” varies greatly, and this game, in particular, has been banned in many schools in the United States due primarily to concerns about injuries. The other issue with tag is that students are running and not paying attention to where they are going. They are often running through other games and there have been numerous incidents where innocent bystanders have been injured from this type of play.

Beaulieu told the Nashua Telegraph that tag-related injuries such as concussions and a broken wrist prompted her to ban the game.

Not all parents approve of the ban.

Bill Chisholm, the father of a fourth grader, told the Telegraph the school's decision to ban the game is "ridiculous" and a violation of student rights.
