W. Garth Callaghan, 44, from Virginia, is known as The Napkin Notes Dad.

Since his daughter Emma began school, he has scrawled an inspirational note on a napkin and placed it into her lunchbox. She is now 14 and a lot has happened since that first note, as reported by Callaghan has battled cancer during the last several years. He told Today that his oncologist says he has just an 8 percent chance of surviving the next five years. So now the napkins have become more important than ever.

Callaghan's mission? To write 826 napkin notes for his daughter -- his only child -- enough to provide one for each school day until she graduates from high school. You can read the notes on his Facebook page.

Sometimes he scribes a famous quote:

And sometimes he writes a message from his heart:

"This is one of my favorites," Callaghan writes on his Facebook page underneath the above napkin photo. "I want her to grow up to be a confident woman."

His messages have struck a chord with people, who stop by his Facebook page to wish him well and call him an inspiration. Here he is with Emma, "the reason behind napkin notes."

Callaghan has compiled many of his notes into an eBook folks can buy for $2.99.

What do you think of Callaghan's notes?
