Isis Parenting, the baby store well known for its prenatal and early parenting education, has shocked Boston's parenting community by announcing it will close its doors immediately.

Isis posted this on its Facebook page Tuesday night:

With heavy hearts, we announce the extremely sad news that Isis Parenting must close. Effective immediately, no classes or phone consults will take place. We are taking steps to communicate with all affected class participants over the coming days and we thank the Isis community in advance for your patience and understanding during this very difficult time.

For a short time, our centers will be open with limited hours. We’ll keep you updated here on facebook and on our website and hope you will come visit our centers to say goodbye. Clients with questions may contact

Nancy Holtzman, the vice president of clinical content and e-learning at Isis Parenting, who gives tireless baby advice to mothers on Twitter, tweeted last night:

Isis Parenting was voted Best of Boston for Baby Gear by Boston Magazine and Boston's Best Parenting Boutique by the Improper Bostonian in 2013. Read about those and other awards.

Here is more about Isis, from its website:
"Founded in 2003 in a small, one-room space in Brookline, MA (under the original name of Isis Maternity), we created Isis to respond to the unique needs of expecting parents, babies, toddlers and new families. Today we have four bustling centers across eastern Massachusetts, nine "Nests" in Georgia and Texas, an online store (including baby gift registry), and an active online community. Whether in our centers or online, our vision remains the same: to be the nation’s most trusted pregnancy and early parenting destination."
