Encourage understanding. Your Christian kids can still celebrate Hanukkah with your Jewish spouse (and vice versa). It’s OK for kids to participate in a holiday of another religion as a way to respect your Jewish (or non-Jewish) spouse and family. Just make sure to explain it them. Try, “We’re going to light the menorah for Hanukkah because that is Daddy’s holiday. We’ll help him celebrate, just like he helps us celebrate Christmas.”
