2011 MSPCA Leader of the Pack winners
Brady, a 5-year-old ball of white fluff and love who helped his owner overcome her fears after she survived the 9/11 terrorist attack on the second World Trade Center tower, has been chosen by the MSPCA as the Leader of the Pack, the dog who will lead the organization's annual Walk for Animals parade on Boston Common this Sunday -- the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
"Brady literally saved me from the abyss," she wrote in her nomination essay. "He helped me get out of the house, his smiling face helped me embrace the present, the nightmares faded, the fear and paranoia subsided, and he never left my side.
"Brady helped me live and love life again."
For the first time, the MSPCA has awarded a runner-up prize, and a spot of honor in the parade, to Mufasa, a handsome, friendly dog who was a rescue from Nevins Farm and is soon to celebrate his 16th birthday!
Congratulations to Brady and Mufasa, and to all the dogs entered. Remember, the parade and related events are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here's how to register.
Have a great time!
