Nominate a Photographer of the Week

Posted by Teresa Hanafin, Boston.com Staff July 31, 2008 12:27 PM

Know some great amateur photographers? We'd like to know them, too, and feature them right here on RAW.

And if that great photographer happens to be you, don't be shy. We may be humble, but we're all proud of our work. Besides, it's a secret process and nobody will know that you nominated yourself.

Here's how:

To send in a nomination, just e-mail a short paragraph about yourself (how long you've been taking photos, how you got started, what you like to shoot, what you've learned -- stuff like that) to raw@boston.com. Attach a sample of your work to the email -- anywhere from 5 to 10 photos. If you size them to lo-res (72 dpi) and about 800 pixels wide, you should be able to attach a bunch to one email. Make sure to also include your name, town, and a phone number (for contact purposes only).

If you want to nominate someone else, just tell us why they're a good candidate for this feature, and include any contact information for them that you have, as well as any of their photos. We'll get in touch with them and see if they'd like to participate.

Once we choose you, we'll ask you to expand your essay -- but if you're not comfortable writing, then we'll interview you (we used to be reporters in former lives).

We'll also ask you to re-send us your photos -- 10 of your best shots, this time full size, hi-res. They can demonstrate a particular style, showcase a subject matter you enjoy shooting, or just be a good representation of your best stuff. We'll discuss it first.

Get ready to be famous!

  1. i've been taking photos all my life but i only recently got my own camera a few years back. light and shadow, wildlife, reflections on water, on glass - basically the remarkable fleeting moments in this world that if i'm fortunate enough to witness, i can capture to the best of my ability.
