We recently heard from our good friend Arnold John Kaplan, APSA-AFIAP, a member of the Cape Cod Art Association Camera Club, about a newly formed organization, The Photographic Society Of Cape Cod. The goal of the group is to explore photography as an art form. There is an opening social event tomorrow night for anyone who wants to check it out.
The Photographic Society Of Cape Cod, a newly formed photographic group, cordially invites all photographers, novice and advanced amateurs and professionals, to attend its opening social- photo networking meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the South Yarmouth Public Library, 312 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth, Mass. (across from the Cultural Center Of Cape Cod).
This social meeting will inform local photographers about the aims and ambitions of the newly formed photo group and the benefits that can be gained by being part of a photographic society that will present photography as an art form in a positive and stimulating atmosphere to foster the artistic growth and development of its members.
To facilitate this growth, the activities of the society will concentrate on furthering the education of its members with planned workshops and speakers based upon the needs and interests of the members.
Other activities will be planned to illustrate the individual and collective achievements, with emphasis on cooperative effort and sharing by all members.
Regular meetings will start Sept. 10 at the Society's new home, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod at 307 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth, Mass. The speaker will be Paul Blackmoor, staff photographer for The Cape Cod Times, who will present a program on Outdoor Photography.
The South Yarmouth Library is located on the section of Old Main Street that intersects Route 28 at the traffic lights just before the Bass River Bridge in South Yarmouth.
