Camera: Leica iiif, Kodachrome 100 slide film.

Here's a final group of beach photos to inspire you to enter our monthly contest. We have more than 50 entries already, and this afternoon, we'll start featuring a few of them several times a day so you can begin to pick out your favorites for the big vote, which starts Sept. 1. We'll highlight each photo separately so you can leave comments, suggestions, or compliments for each photographer.

But between the contest entries, we'll continue to feature random photos from local amateurs, so please feel free to send your best stuff to raw@boston.com.

Meanwhile, enjoy more photos:

The End of a Perfect Day
The End of a Perfect Day by Maggie Dulude of Yarmouth Port

Maggie says: "I took this picture in 2004 at Grey's Beach in Yarmouth Port. I was using an old pre-digital point & shoot Minolta. The image is a copy of a 4x6 print which I scanned into my computer. The only editing I did was to de-speckle it, crop it slightly, and remove some surface blemishes."

Isla Granito del Oro, Panama
Isla Granito del Oro, Panama by Bryan Treadwell of Eastham

Bryan writes: "This is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. It's located off the coast of Panama on a tiny island called Isla Granito del Oro. It's near Isla Coiba, a former prison colony that I'd love to be sentenced to. I was delivering a 46-foot yacht from Seattle to Panama for a family when I got this shot with a Fuji Finepix 7000."

(Delivering a yacht? Bryan, do you need a ship's cook? A purser? A petty officer? I can be very petty ...)

Life and wildlife in Madagascar
For years before I started college, I knew I wanted to spend a semester studying abroad, but I wasn't sure where. By my junior year at Brandeis, I made up my mind to travel somewhere off the beaten path, and, of course, Madagascar is pretty far off the beaten path for someone like me....
An essay about Rebirth Workshops
Now that it's been several months since I returned from a week-long Rebirth Workshop in Mississippi, I'm happy to look back and provide an overview of what we did that made it such an intense experience for me as a photographer....
