"Mayflower Beach, Dennis" by Sigrid Dempsey
Sigrid writes, "These images show my favorite beach -- Mayflower Beach in Dennis, which faces Cape Cod Bay -- on a stormy February 11th afternoon in 2008. Most summer guests are not likely to see it like this, with icy cold winds gusting. I thought it might be a refreshing change."
Sigrid used a Canon Rebel XT with no filters and took more that same day ...
"I in West Yarmouth and take Route 6A, King's Highway, to Mayflower Beach," Sigrid writes. "I love to walk, and find this endless stretch of beach at low tide to be ideal - unless, of course, we have a storm with a wind-chill factor, which dampens even my enthusiasm.
"Before coming to the Cape in '99, we had lived in northern Italy for over 25 years. There, I developed an interest in art and culture, and with all the talk about "the golden light of the Veneto", I eventually tried to capture it on film. I feel that it helps to be familiar with one's surroundings in order to do them justice. Cape Cod is also known for "the light" and though one cannot compare this scenery with Italy, it is fascinating to observe the changing light. The sunsets can be stunning."
