Week 2 of RAW in "g"
RAW Dawg Chris Wraight of Southborough became the second lucky duck to have one of his photos featured in the "g" section of the Globe.
Chris's photo, which ran Wednesday, was submitted as part of our call for fall sports action shots; his image captured Katie Campbell, a senior center back for the Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks field hockey team, taking a free hit during a Midland Wachusett A game against visiting Fitchburg on Oct. 7. Chris shot this at f/2.8, 1/4,000 of a second, ISO 250, with his lens at 300mm.

WHOO HOOO! Nice work! What a rush it must be!
Thanks! It was indeed quite the feeling to see your work on a big page in a major newspaper!
Many thanks Teresa...
Nice to see that up there.
There's hope that one day one of my photos will make it into the Boston Globe.
Can this be expanded to the rest of the newspaper? Embedding our photos throughout the paper?
That would be cool.
Let us know what you need.
Hi, Steve -- yes, I've talked to other section editors, such as the Globe Magazine editor, about printing some of our photos from RAW. The magazine would be particularly good since it's on glossier paper than the newspaper.
It's funny how despite declining circulation, print still has this cachet. Boston.com has far more readers than the Globe does these days, yet people still get giddy over the prospect of being in the newspaper. Is it the perceived permanence of print (although Boston.com's pages never expire off the site), or the Globe brand, or something else? I just find it interesting.
Hey Teresa -
My two cents - the print version can be framed with a nice "My first printed picture" title. :-)

NOVEMBER'S THEME SilhouettesConvey emotion, set a mood, or create an air of mystery ... silhouettes can convey a lot in a handful of pixels. It's a challenging theme; position your subject in front of a light source, and expose for the light. One rule: Your photo must be taken this month.
Deadline: Midnight November 30
