Your Food Shots

Posted by Teresa Hanafin, Boston.com Staff January 22, 2009 04:33 PM

This Food gallery is done -- whew! You certainly are enthusiastic about taking food shots. We'll have to have another call for food photos in the summer or fall. Use the "Full-screen" link to see the images full-size.

Now I'll turn my attention to the January contest. Just one week left to submit your best "Cold" photo.

Meanwhile, enjoy the food:

  1. whoa! that shot by Jennifer Stone of the lemon in the frothy drink made me do a double take - looked like a fried egg with a bit of garnish on it at first glance.

  1. The crispy fried asparagus wrapped in prosciutto intrigues me! It looks delish!!!
Tried to look up recipe but none would seem to give same final result. Where was this from? A restaurant offering? Yummy!!!

  1. Being a rookie, I find food tough to shoot. Lighting is tough. On-camera flash is usually too harsh for me, so I try to use indirect natural light as much as possible. I want the lighting to be very subtle, and usually fail miserably... ;-)
Where to focus is another issue, particularly with a whole plate of food. Do I want it all in focus, or do I just want to draw attention to something specific?
Guess I'd rather be outside shooting sports, wildlife, etc. ;-)
