Our judge for the July "Ripples" contest, Sharon E. Lowe, first dabbled in photography when she was in high school. Several years ago, she rediscovered her passion, and now pursues her art professionally.

She photographs a wide variety of subjects in color and black-and-white, including portraits, architecture, and stock images, and says she is passionate about taking night and low-light photos. She also likes to experiment with simpler technology, and owns a Holga, a Zero Image pinhole camera, and a ColorSplash camera.

For purposes of this contest, here's one of Sharon's galleries that contains several "water in motion" photos.

Sharon is a member of several professional groups, including Professional Women Photographers, Professional Photographers of America, and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. She has written several articles on photography and Photoshop tips.

Her photo "Emerald Way" (in the Industrial Nights gallery) received an award at the 2003 Pembroke Arts Festival. One of her night images from Mono Lake was in the "Darkness, Darkness" exhibit at the Boston Convention Center last year.

For our July "Ripples" contest, Sharon has made her Final 50 choices; we'll build that gallery now.
