Photo Challenge: Beautiful (Pregnant) Bellies

Did you know that more babies are born per day in September in the US than in any other month?

July has more births in total because it has one more day than September, but the highest rate per day belongs to the Harvest Month. How apt.

Our friends at sfgate.com, the very excellent website of the San Francisco Chronicle, recently ran a photo contest with this same theme. You can see the results here. So we're stealing the idea.

This won't be one of our monthly contests, however; it's a Photo Challenge, meaning we'll post all the photos we receive (well, the clean ones, anyway) in full-screen galleries with no judging involved.

We're looking for photos that meet our usual criteria for good composition, lighting, and creativity, but for this challenge we're also looking for those extra qualities of joy, delight, well-being, contentment -- and maybe even the discomfort -- that attends a pregnancy.

The bellies do NOT have to be bare, by the way. Oh, and we'll feature some of your photos on our Moms site.

One photo per photographer, please. E-mail your submissions to raw@boston.com.

Now that's an interesting statistic, hadn't heard that. Two of my three kids are Sept babies...hmmmm, can you say "New Year's Eve", LOL

Hi, Carla -- I don't usually put a deadline on the Photo Challenges ... I just let the photos come in, and when I've gotten enough of them and the submissions start to slow to a trickle, then I end it. It's usually a couple of weeks.

Our guy was born September 17th 2008. The exact number of gestation days 266 from Christmas Day.
