Coleman Rogers

Newton photographer and RAW regular Coleman Rogers is showing a variety of work at the gallery at NewTV in the Newton Communication Access Center through Jan. 15.

Coleman's work includes both black & white and color, film and digital photography. Images range from realistic landscapes to multi- and slow-exposure abstracts.

"I compose my shot in the camera, framing bits and pieces of the world while playing with time and perspective," he says. "I am trying to see the final image at the moment of capture."

As a recent project, Coleman has been commuting to work by bicycle while wearing a plastic toy camera -- the Holga 120N, which carries medium-format 120 film. The work includes still and pan action exposures (see photo above), sometimes shot while riding in heavy traffic.

"I am capturing the nerve-wracking action and constant motion that I experience while riding," he says.

Photographer Jonathan Kean will be sharing the gallery space during this exhibition.

You can see more of Coleman's work at his website, on Flickr, on his blog, and at the online photo store he has set up.
