January 'What's That?' 4th Place photo

And the winner is:

ChelleR, whose simple answer of ice crystals ended up being the most accurate -- and first.

Cheryl the photographer writes: "The photo actually shows a thin layer of ice hovering over the edge of a stream. The sun hit the ice crystals, making them white, and the dark water shows through the clear parts of the ice.

"I think I have to go with the simplest answer -- #5 ice crystals. It did not show reeds, grass, gouges or cracks and it was not on glass."

Cheryl shot this with a Sony DSC-H7 with an exposure of 1/320 sec. at f/4, ISO 100, and a focal length of 19mm.
