And the winner is ...

Linda, who guessed "glass bottle with writing."

davefitz says: "It is an old glass bottle of Hood's Sarsaparilla with the name embossed on it."

He shot this with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi with an exposure of 1/500 sec. at f/7.1, ISO 1600, and a focal length of 100mm.
