Photography is about geometry as much as creativity: The rule of thirds, triangulating your subjects, using lines to create a sense of depth or lead the viewer's eye to your main subject. So let's dive fully into this world of symmetry and asymmetry and hold a contest where lines and curves are the most obvious elements of your image.
That's a critical criteria for this contest: The lines and curves and spirals have to be absolutely central to your photo.
Rule for June: Your photo must be taken during this month. No diving into your archives!
This month's tags: Boston.com contest June2010 Lines
(Don't forget the "s" at the end of Lines.)
Remember, one photo per photographer. Deadline: Midnight June 30.
For newcomers: To enter the contest, you must create a Flickr account or use your existing account.
Make sure you have at least 5 photos in that account. In fact, add 5 photos right now, even if you don't have your contest photo yet. Flickr won't add your account to its search index until you have uploaded at least 5 photos, and it can take a couple of weeks. So if you create your 5-photo account now, when you add your contest photo later, Flickr will find it right away -- and we'll find it when we search for all the photos carrying our contest tags.
Good shooting this month, folks -- if you have any questions, just send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
P.S. We're posting your May "Landscapes" entries now.
