Michael Rubin, director of product marketing for the Digital Imaging Division of Casio America, sat down with Michael R. Tomkins of The Imaging Resource this week for a chat about the future of digital cameras and Casio's plans for 2011. Among the highlights:

  • HDR imaging is the future, so Casio has baked it into three of its new cameras, including the innovative TRYX.
  • Casio has cameras for the technically savvy and the photo enthusiast, but also is appealing to a younger audience that is not necessarily part of the traditional digital camera market.
  • Because of the growth of social media, the TRYX can be configured to automatically upload designated photos to your favorite social site e.g. Facebook -- on the fly.
  • Cellphone cameras still cannot compete with good digital cameras because of the limitations of optics and upload costs.
