Judge Charlie Mansbach enjoyed himself reviewing your entries and narrowing them to a Final 50. His thoughts:

"The best wordings can elevate a photo, give it a fresh context, and add meaning.

"My favorites in this collection make the viewer pause (but only slightly), think, and then look at the photo anew with the words in mind. Some writers took a familiar term and gave it a fresh twist; others furnished a whole new sense of the expression. They all avoided the pitfalls of overreaching and of pointing out the obvious.

"Of the titles I didn't select, many just didn't do justice to the nice photos that went with them. Some wordings were too modest, others too sweeping. And sometimes they contained jokes that, to at least one reader, fell a little flat.

"But many did well with a challenging task. Congratulations."

Here are the December "Great Photo Titles" contest Final 50.

Here's the gallery of all of your entries.

We will post the Top 10 tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the January "What's That?" contest is in full swing.
