Hi everybody ... sorry for the absence. My project is starting to ease a bit. I still don't have a producer to help me, but hope to hire one soon. Meanwhile, I wanted to clarify one of the rules for the May contest:

On May 4, I wrote an entry titled "Two contest updates" in which I said that I was changing the rule that your photo must be taken this month, in response to some pleas from some photographers who had good reflection photos in their portfolios and wanted to be able to submit them. So your photo can have been taken any time.

My fault for not changing the rule in the original post; I've done that now. If you have a good reflection photo from the past that you want to submit in place of one you shot this month, just upload it, and at the end of your caption, write something like, "Please remove my other photo of ..."

I must say we have some great entries, and have more than 90 photos with close to two weeks still to go. I have approved all of the pending submissions, and they all are live now. There are a few photos that didn't come through, so if you don't see your photo among the 91 posted now, then re-submit. I'll also send emails to those with missing photos.

By the way, the professional photos at the end of the gallery is something we do every month to kick off the gallery and to illustrate the theme. We delete them before judging begins.

Life and wildlife in Madagascar
For years before I started college, I knew I wanted to spend a semester studying abroad, but I wasn't sure where. By my junior year at Brandeis, I made up my mind to travel somewhere off the beaten path, and, of course, Madagascar is pretty far off the beaten path for someone like me....
An essay about Rebirth Workshops
Now that it's been several months since I returned from a week-long Rebirth Workshop in Mississippi, I'm happy to look back and provide an overview of what we did that made it such an intense experience for me as a photographer....
