In memory of a friend

Back in February of 2011, I posted a note from Janet Claffey of Newburyport telling us of the passing of a dear friend of hers who was a RAW enthusiast - Barbara Bailey. Recently, Janet took Second Place in "The Color Yellow" contest, and sent me this note:

Hey RAW,

I wish to thank you and judge John Blanding for awarding my photo, "Beach Boys' Toys", Second Place in the theme "The Color Yellow."

I would like to accept my $50 prize money on behalf of fellow RAW photographer Barb Bailey, and donate it to her memorial scholarship fund.

Barbara was an avid member and together we enjoyed the monthly themes and its fellowship. Her sudden illness and then death in January, 2010 has left a great hole in the lives of her family and friends.

For the second time, this September the Amesbury Provident Bank will feature her photos for sale, with proceeds going to her namesake Memorial Scholarship fund. So I wish to extend my gratitude for this honor, and the opportunity to pay it forward.

Thank you, Teresa. An update re: Barbara's memorial fund.

It is officially under Amesbury Educational Foundation, Inc. or AEFI's umbrella. So donations can either be made via the web site (aefionline.com) or by check made out to AEFI/ Barbara Bailey Memorial Fund. Mail to:

Amesbury, MA 01913

And because AEFI is a registered non-profit, all donations are tax deductible.

The photography show will be held at the Provident Bank in Ames. 9/11-9/28, 2012.
