'Micro-preemies' Madeline and Molly
More than 50,000 micro-preemies — like Molly (left) and Madeline Farrell — are born in the United States every year, or about 1 percent of all births. That rate hasn't changed, but their likelihood of survival has, thanks to medical advances and technological interventions.
