When Barry Zito's not on the mound, this offense can't get much done it seems.....another darn good effort by Lackey wasted.

I'll take Amendola losing the stats "competition," but winning the SB with the Pats any day.
Welker could get 2,000 yds and 20 TDs. I could care less.

Looking at the overall makeup of the team for next year: yeah, I think they got better. Iggy will have more impact in CJ's system and a Bs team without egos. And it's only for one year. And Eriksson more »

If Clarkson ends up in a Bs uniform after all the dust settles, I think we'll be forgetting about Seguin and looking at a deep run again in 2014. Eriksson and Clarkson are 2 pieces that would fit per more »

Nothing. 17 seconds of sloppy play kept them from Game 7. A series that went to 3 OTs. CJ played it right. A healthy Bergey, Soupy, and a 100 percent Chara and they would have lifted the Cup.

Yes, complacency stinks. And that they did. But the Hawks are not the Leafs or the Canucks or the Rags or the Pens. They could have all but finished CHI with a disciplined game and a W tonight.
Posted 06/20/2013 12:57:08 EDT
@tomahawk. Um, Lucic was also the culprit in the 3rd period turnover that led to the 5 on 3 PP and the Hawks' 5th goal.

THey had the big opportunity to shut the door and all but handed the Hawks the game. Awful performance. Worst game of the post-season by the Bs because it was so uncharacteristic of what they need to more »

My only "tweak" on this article is to drop the word "lucky" from Paille's bounces. They aren't lucky; they ARE bounces, yes, but that line's work is generating them, and he's been very intuitive abou more »

Did Milbury ever stop to think that maybe Chiarelli is onto something with picking up guys for the playoff push who don't live up to the hype? It wins them Cups. Remember Kaberle? It worked :-) I th more »

Fingers crossed on Horton.
At least the back up plan keeps Pandolfo and Caron on the outside and Sods in....phew!

Just win Game 2. That was the my "hinge factor" even before the series started. Game 1 was "getting to know each other," but Game 2 decides the series winner.
Posted 06/13/2013 02:37:06 EDT
How in the heck did they let this one slip away?! Bury it and move on. Game 2 is HUGE. Really huge.
My concern is Horty. These ain't the Canucks, and he's crucial to this run.

These are the same type of pitching issues that hit Lester in late 2011 and around this time last season. Cutter not working, head space not right, going deep into counts, etc. It could just be he h more »

Fullback is a position he could thrive in. It's a wrinkle BB hasn't used much since the early 2000s. The TE thing is obvious. Tebow is too gifted an athlete. If you focus his skills to a specific more »

THe Bs thrive in hostile environments. It's one of the intangible strenghts of this squad that a lot of the pundits don't seem to pick up on.
Posted 06/10/2013 03:20:13 EDT
The Bs have answers for Kane and Toews; it's Bickell they need to keep in check. He gave LA fits and was getting in Quick's face a lot. What a series this will be. O6, great hockey towns, but I trus more »

From the context of the article, it seems like CJ is down to either Daugavins or Caron. I'd go with Daugavins. Caron has had an extensive season to show what he can do, and I just didn't see enough. more »

I'd go with Daugavins. He showed a lot of hustle, physicality and energy in the final few games of the season. He's a natural defensive-center. No easy task to replace Campbell (losing him is a rea more »

There are no jinxes; any correct predictions are purely luck. Winning this series solely rests on the Bs sticking with their program. I'm pretty confident they have finally gotten the message about more »
