People continue to give Beckett too much credit - seriously. Every time there is an issue with an ADULT pitcher it is thanks to Beckett. If these guys can't think and do for themselves then we reall more »

Sorry but you should go back and listen to Beckett - he may have had some faults but he was always accountable for his pitching. If he pitched poorly - he told you he s*cked.

Please.. Varitek will take the job whether he wants it or not. His wife wants it! Let's us not forget - he is "the captain".

"He wasn't the problem - Beckett's attitude and performance, and Crawford's performance and contract were." I am replying again to the Beckett's attitude and performance - please explain how Lester's more »

I don't get it - why is Beckett "dead weight" but Lester is not. Over the past two years Beckett has been a better pitcher than Lester. Yet - Beckett is the dead weight and Lester is our 'hope' for more »

It is funny how everyone is so quick to slam Beckett - yet Tito mentions Lester. I think Sox fans don't want to think Lester could be the problem and blamed Beckett for everything wrong with Lester. more »

Enough with the Beckett attitude. That attitude was GREAT when he won us a WS! Isn't Lester an adult??? Shouldn't he be able to make his own decisions and act the way HE WANTS TO ACT. I work with more »

Wasn't Farrell brought in a the manager of the team? All I keep hearing is that he is going to turn around EVERY pitcher. Lester, Bard, Aceves, Clay, on and on it goes. Working with the pitchers so more »

Lester is totally part of the problem - it is just people in Boston do not want to admit it. For some reason Lester gets a pass no matter what. Please one of the reasons Farrell was hired was to mak more »

Sorry but you were wrong. Beckett was the best pitcher the Sox had in 2011. Yes he lost two important games in September - but so didn't Lester. But they were actually in the running at the end tha more »

Compare Yankees and Sox and Yankees win - and I am not a Yankees fan. They have a manager who has the guts to sit an all star and they have an all star who handles it the best way he can. First the more »

Wow Buchholz must give you all the interviews you want and say whatever it is you want to hear. He's on your good side. No slamming or rude comments - one of the few Red Sox to actually get a nod.

Bard didn't make himself available for the media last night. How come he wasn't slammed for not taking accountability and leaving it up to others to answer for him? Hmmmm interesting. Guess it all dep more »

Too much chicken (and maybe beer) - it catches up to you. Makes it tough to get through 7 innings.

In response to slomag's comment: A lot of ignorance on this board - Beckett hit a line drive to a RF with a gun who was playing shallow. He was running hard the whole way. He has a 3.38 ERA with t more »

You were so right Peter. Guess the problem with the team was with the guys who were traded - cause the Sox are playing so much better since they left. A good 3-12 record. Hmmm what was that you said more »
