the fact that we are discussing the Sox and the playoffs at all is proof that they have exceeded expectations. So why not the rest of the season and into the playoffs?

Napoli is so bad he kills any rally. Last night was just another example . It pains me to watch him, then I thought even a bad hitter, like a bad team, can surprise you. I'm still waiting.

The game was lost when Bailey was put into the game and put two men on base with no one out . The Sox were ahead at that point and by the time that inning ended the Tigers had tied it, thanks to Baile more »

Last night it was Bailey but every night it is Napoli, Middlebrooks, Drew who are disasterous, and when Pedy is in a slump no wonder run s are few Clean house Farell. Get rid of the deadwood

It is not just Bailey,Napoli and Middlebrooks are pathetic, no fire.Pedy has fire but is getting burned just now. So many oportunities wasted. When they sit Baily down Napoli and Middlebrooks should b more »

Before the season started the sport's writers said that the Sox would finish at the bottom with the Yankees right there with them. The reverse is the case at this time and not likely to change redical more »

Flacco was good against Denver but he was also lucky. He was on his game and luck followed, but I have a feeling that he will be off against the Pats, maybe a let down after the Denver win, and it cou more »

pats beware of Flacco. His accurate high throws killed Denver and could do the same against the Pats. Hope we can cover right but I'm nervous.

Yes that game looked awful. Except for Foster no one else stood out. The only way the Pats could lose is if Brady has one of his post season melt downs. We've seen that happen.

I thought neither team looked good. Stop Foster and the Pats will win more »

Yes the Colts will win and lose to the Pats more »

One of those games that with just a little bit of luck, a recovered fumble, whatever, the Pats would have won. Not a big deal. Besides the number one seed rarely wins the super bowl.

I see all the comments are wailing about the demise of the Red Sox. How about a hopefull one. Starting tonight they will go on a tear and will make an exciting run for the playoffs. Maybe. more »

How infantile of Sweeney to break his hand punching a door after going 0 for 4 Not to mention his loss to the team. Does the Sox management still have to pay this idiot while he sits on the bench reco more »

Becket has the Youkilis syndrom, unhappy with being a Red Sox he will blossom again with another team.So trade him before he ruins any chance of the sox making the playoffs more »

I hope C,C, does well, but before I cheer him he will have to earn my praise. I have a hunch he will ,however, be back on the D.L.before long. more »

Too bad Miller got the loss and not Beckett who desrved it. What a pathetic performance from our once upon a time ace. Doesn't he feel ashamed? He sure never shows it. more »

Well a lot of negative comments this early morning. I guess the early morning risers are feeling grumpy-and the Sox won! Wait till they lose again. It will be the end of the world. more »

As bad as Youk is Gonzo and Pedroia are just as pathetic. Those three stooges are pain to watch. At least Dice K threw a half decent game, good enough for a win. more »

Dice K had a decent outing for a five pitcher. Four runs should not be insurmountable, but Youk is pathetic, Pedroia is flaying at anything within ten feet of the plate. Gonzo is an enigma,so no more more »

This has become a loveable team, filling in on for the injured on the field, plugging up the lineup, coming together. I think they deserve a name. My choice is,"The Misfits" Any suggestions out there? more »

We seem to have a very good tandem in Miller as set up and Aceves as our closer. Forget Palp.No need for Bailey. more »

I like what Bobby V does with the lineup. Francona had the annoying habit of resting a hitter whenever the hitter got hot. Too bad Bobby has to play Punto. I'd rather see Iggy brought up. more »
