About Me: Reading and baseball.

So well written, Chad. This line brought a tear to my eye: "You love baseball as much I love Star Wars,''

Wait, whatever happened to Alex Wilson? Why doesn't he factor into the bullpen or is he not recovered from his injury?

I like Brandon Workman as a starter better than in the bullpen. As much as I'd like to see him in Boston, I would rather he start the year in Pawtucket and be ready to start once the inevitable starti more »

Nice article Chad! My son has also realized that if he sits and watches a Red Sox game with me and makes interested comments now and then that his bedtime becomes much more flexible. I find this Celti more »

Nothing looks misspelled to me. The grammar might be off but not the spelling. That being said, whatever motivates David I'm all for. Go for it David! Prove 'em all wrong and get that new contract!

There is no way on God's green earth that the Rays would deal Price to the Red Sox.
Posted 12/03/2013 03:22:12 EST
I'm not sure I would consider the Matt Thornton deal a sign of Nieves' good decision making ability.

I did not see it that way at all. I enjoyed the interview quite a bit, thought Jonny was fun and personable. To each his own.

If we aren't going to question it, what are we doing on here?

In what way?

He doesn't really get a ring, does he? He played all of what, 2 games for the Red Sox?

I'm not sure how you managed to slip in an undeserved dig at Ellsbury in what is essentially a positive article. Unnecessarily snarky Wilbur. Can't we just enjoy this team and what they did for a litt more »

Despite Gomes not hitting as well as Nava I am of the opinion that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Maybe Farrell is right about the intangibles, maybe the team does feel different when Gomes is in th more »

I've got a good feeling about Nap tonight based on no other reason but hope.

Completely agree. Nava has shown some very bad baserunning skills whereas Gomes is known for his baserunning. Of course, this decision assumes that Gomes will get on base against Verlander.

This is a great match up. The Sox did really well against the Tigers in that series in September. I'm looking forward to more of the same this time around.

I thought Farrell said that Middlebrooks was the back up 2nd baseman, thus turning Bogaerts into the 3rd baseman. Not that I think it will come to that. I don't like Thornton at all but there really i more »

This game was so frustrating to watch. So many missed opportunities and squandered chances. Farrell managed it strangely, what with Nava's bunt and not pinch hitting for Drew. How is it that the O's s more »

That move was the most inexplicable to me. There was no logical reason not to bat Bogaerts there. None.

It takes a long time for a catcher to cultivate the skills necessary to be a good major league catcher. I don't think Lavarnway is a bad catcher, I think he is an unseasoned catcher.

I've been to BP at Fenway a number of times and music does not play during the visiting team's BP. Near the end of it the organist starts playing but the DJ does not play music like he does during the more »

Thank you! I am sick of reading the revisionist history about Iglesias when everything he has done since being traded shows that he is a darn good baseball player.

I wish I could like your post more than once. I enjoy baseball a lot because it seems to be simultaneoulsy both a team sport and an individual sport and your post summed that feeling up well.

This was a tough one to call but I went with Koji. Really it has all been a big team effort. It is hard to pinpoint one or a few things that have made the difference. When you come down to it, I guess more »
